For the front of our wedding invitations we decided to add some shine by embossing a stamp.
I custom ordered a stamp from etsy, for only $10 they were great at coming up with exactly what I wanted and it delivered quickly. Well worth the price!
Items you will need for this project:
- The paper you will be embossing
- Clear embossing ink (it will say somewhere on the packaging that it is appropriate for embossing)
- Embossing powder
- Embossing Heat Tool
Coat your stamp with the clear ink.
Stamp the paper, be careful in your placement, once you have put the stamp on the paper you cannot move it.
Sprinkle the embossing powder over the ink while it is still wet (you need to be fairly quick in this step so ensure you have all of your ingredients ready).
Once you have covered the stamp, tap off the excess. I usually do this over a piece of paper so that if any doesn’t make it back into the jar, the paper will catch it then you can put the excess in.
Once your embossing tool is turned on and heated, hold it a few centimetres over the stamp moving it back and forth until the stamp has an evenly smooth surface (only takes a few seconds).
It will look shiny and smooth when it’s done. The stamp will now be raised and adds some nice texture to the paper once done.
